The YSU Flute Ensemble gives flute majors the opportunity to perform compositions in many musical styles and has premiered works written especially for the group, including David Morgan's The Secret of the Golden Flower and Belo Horizonte, Till Meyn's Preludio y Tango and Urban Ragas for four flutes, and pieces by YSU Flute Studio Alumni including Heidi Keener, Nadya Stratton, and Bryan Kennard. The YSU Flute Ensemble has been featured in concert at National Flute Association Conventions, including events in New York City, Pittsburgh, and Washington DC.

The Ensemble performs on a wide range of flutes, including C Flute, Piccolo, Alto, Bass and cultivates ensemble skills, balance, blend, and intonation. Members of the YSU Flute Ensemble have had the opportunity to perform concertos, conduct rehearsals and concerts, and arrange and compose flute ensemble pieces. The YSU Flute Ensemble performs throughout the year in Bliss Recital Hall on the YSU campus, the YSU Flute Festival, Carols and Cocoa Holiday Concert in Stambaugh Auditorium, and the Butler Institute of American Art.
