Cliffe College of Creative Arts welcomes Adam Howard to faculty

Cliffe College of Creative Arts will welcome Adam Howard to its faculty as he joins the Dana School of Music and University Theatre staff as a musical theater lecturer. Howard is an American-born and British-trained performer, playwright, and music director whose research focuses on Panto and musical theatre voice pedagogy. He has performed and taught in half a dozen countries on three continents and is thrilled to make YSU his home

Pipino Performing Arts Series announces fifth season lineup

Cliffe College of Creative Arts has announced the lineup for the fifth season of the Pipino Performing Arts Series. The season will open with the return of marionette artist Phillip Huber, who was the first performer in the series’ inaugural 2018-19 season. Other artists featured in the season will include Ailey II, the Vijay Iyer Trio, the Diderot Quartet, and more.

Dana School of Music alumna places in Meistersinger Competition

Marlina Karimi (M.M., ’22), a former student of professor of music Misook Yun, was awarded third place in the American Institute of Musical Studies’ Meistersinger Competition in Graz, Austria during the summer of 2022. She performed Rosalinda from the “Die Fledermaus” Act II finale.

YSU’s Dana School of Music will be hosting Music at Noon concerts during the fall 2022 semester. Concerts will be held Wednesdays at 12:15 PM in The Butler Institute of American Art, located on YSU’s campus. Admission is free.

Department of Art students complete large-scale mural in East Liverpool

Professor of art Dragana Crnjak and three former and current YSU art students—Rachel Hritz (B.F.A., ’22), Mia Mondora (B.F.A., ’22), and junior B.F.A. student Lindsay DeLullo—recently completed a large-scale mural located on Bradshaw Avenue in East Liverpool, Ohio. The mural was commissioned by East Liverpool Mayor and YSU alumnus Greg Bricker.

Dana School of Music students to participate in Spectrum Brass Seminar

Dana School of Music students Joseph Lashner and Connor Remington were selected to participate in the 2022 Spectrum Brass Seminar at the Bay View Music Festival in Petoskey, Michigan July 8 – August 15, 2022. The five-week program welcomes students from universities all over the world to learn more about the brass quintet repertoire.

YSU Summer Festival of the Arts celebrates 24th anniversary

YSU will be welcoming arts, culture, and music to downtown Youngstown as it celebrates the 24th annual Summer Festival of the Arts at Wean Park in downtown Youngstown, Ohio July 7 – 10, 2022. Organizers who have events planned for the festival include Cliffe College of Creative Arts, JAC Management, the City of Youngstown, Mahoning County Convention & Visitors Bureau, and St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

McDonough Museum of Art awarded Ohio Arts Council grant

The McDonough Museum of Art was awarded an Ohio Arts Council (OAC) grant in the amount of $11,625 as part of the OAC’s sustainability program. The OAC is a state agency that assists in funding and supporting the arts in order to transform Ohio people and communities.

McDonough Museum of Art announces summer 2022 schedule

The McDonough Museum of Art will open its summer 2022 exhibition schedule with five diverse artists beginning Friday, June 3, 2022 and concluding Saturday, July 16. An opening reception will be held Friday, June 3 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the museum. The exhibitions and reception are free and open to the public.

University Theatre announces productions for 2022-23 season

YSU’s University Theatre announced that four mainstage productions will make up their 2022-23 season, beginning with “The Revolutionists” September 30 – October 9, 2022. Also included in the lineup are “Godspell” and “The Last Five Years,” with “Antigone” closing the season March 31 – April 9, 2023.
