The Judith Rae Solomon Gallery will exhibit the work of Serbian-American artist Natalija Mijatovic in a new exhibit titled “Of Snow and Sorrow” beginning Monday, March 25, 2024. Works in the exhibit examine quiet voids, repetition, and memory.

Record producer Ian Nagoski to join Beecher Art & Technology Lecture Series

The Beecher Art & Technology Lecture Series will welcome music researcher and record producer Ian Nagoski for a presentation Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 5:30 PM in the McDonough Museum of Art lecture hall (room 3000). His lecture will focus on non-English language recordings from the 1920s to the 1950s.

University Theatre to conclude 60th anniversary season with “Once Upon a Mattress”

YSU’s University Theatre will conclude its 60th anniversary season with the production of “Once Upon a Mattress,” a whimsical, enchanting musical that follows a journey through the kingdom of happily ever after. Performances will be held April 5 – 7 and 12 – 14, 2024 in the YSU Ford Theatre in Bliss Hall.

Red Press Collaborative program welcomes guest artist Jeffrey Sippel

YSU’s Department of Art is welcoming guest artist Jeffrey Sippel to its Red Press Collaborative program starting Monday, March 18, 2024 through Friday, March 22. Sippel will present an artist talk and hold multiple open studio sessions throughout the week.

The McDonough Museum of Art will host the 87th Annual Student Art & Design Exhibition, sponsored by the Cliffe College of Creative Arts, the Department of Art, the McDonough, and the Student Art Association, beginning Friday, March 22, 2024 through Saturday, April 6. The McDonough Museum of Art has announced it will hold a screening of some of Bruce Checefsky’s most popular films in an event titled “Lost and Unmade: the films of Bruce Checefsky.” The screening will be held in the McDonough Auditorium Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 5:30 PM.

The Judith Rae Solomon Gallery, located on the second floor of Bliss Hall, will present the “Postcard Exhibition” beginning Monday, February 26, 2024 through Sunday, March 31. The exhibition will feature artwork completed by local high school students on postcard-sized pieces of paper.

Jazz at Lincoln Center to join Pipino Performing Arts Series

The next performance in the Donald P. Pipino Performing Arts Series will occur Friday, February 23, 2024, as the series welcomes Jazz at Lincoln Center for their concert titled “SING AND SWING: Our American Songbook.” A celebration of the “Great American Songbook,” the show will feature trumpeters, vocalists, and composers Bria Skonberg and Benny Benack III.

The Judith Rae Solomon Gallery, located on the second floor of YSU’s Bliss Hall, is featuring local artist Nasir Watson in its annual Black History Month exhibition that will be open to the public Thursday, February 1, 2024, through Thursday, February 22. Watson is best known for his painting and photography work.
