Concert Band and Wind Ensemble to perform concert at Stambaugh Auditorium

The YSU Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, led by directors Kate Ferguson and Michael S. Butler, respectively, will present a concert at Stambaugh Auditorium Thursday, April 17, at 7:30 PM.
The concert, titled “With Heart and Voice,” will feature pieces with a connection to that theme. Among the pieces performed by the Concert Band will be “Flourish for Wind Band” and “Festivo,” conducted by graduate conductors Hailey Baker and Benjamin Hemming, respectively. Baker and Hemming will also conduct Wind Ensemble performances of “Autumn” and “Monument,” the second of which was composed by Jacob Potts, winner of the 2024-25 Dr. Stephen Gage Memorial Composition Contest.
The concert will also feature a performance of David Maslanka’s “Concerto for Alto Saxophone,” performed by Andrea Richard, winner of the Dana School of Music Concerto Competition.
