Catalyzing and Advancing Discovery

YSU and Cliffe College are committed to providing support that will enable the success of your research and creative activities. Both the university and the college offer a range of services to help faculty and students identify funding opportunities, encourage innovation and economic development through strategic partnerships, and oversee and coordinate YSU’s research proposal submissions, compliance, and contract and grant administration processes.

 

 

Office of Research Services

YSU’s Office of Research Services provides the highest quality support services for faculty, staff, and students in the development and administration of grants and contracts to support research, service, and other scholarly activities. You may find more information by contacting the staff.

 

Cliffe College of Creative Arts

The college is committed to research and creative activity and the advancement of innovative and interdisciplinary curriculum development. The college's Summer Faculty Innovation Grant (SFIG) provides one mechanism to support faculty endeavors in these areas. SFIG is supported by the Cliffe College Dean’s Office. You may find additional information by contacting the college dean’s office.

 

Facilities that encourage exploration and creation

In Cliffe College, you’ll have access to a diverse complement of equipment and facilities to support your research and creative activity—from galleries and theaters to a foundry and industry-standard digital labs and technology.

The John J. McDonough Museum of Art, which exhibits work by students, faculty, and professional artists, collaborates with faculty and students in the Department of Art to develop programs and exhibitions that enhance the department’s contemporary and interdisciplinary teaching mission. The Judith Rae Solomon Gallery is a professional gallery in which art students display their work, curate exhibitions, and document artwork. Our Student Project Gallery is a student-run experimental exhibition space, where students display completed work or develop site-specific projects.

A 400-seat proscenium space, the YSU Ford Theater houses multiple theatre & dance department productions each academic year. Spotlight Theater is a 120-seat black-box theater with a state-of-the-art LED lighting system. Classes, rehearsals, master classes, student showcases, and season productions take place in this versatile arena-style theater.

Faculty and students also exhibit and perform in numerous museums, performance halls, and theaters in the region, including The Butler Institute of American Art, the DeYor Performing Arts CenterW. D. Packard Music HallRobins TheatreStambaugh Auditorium, and the Youngstown Playhouse.

Students and faculty have access to multiple diverse painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, and digital design studios as well as industry-standard technology.

 

 

William F. Maag, Jr. Library

The Maag Library is an essential partner in the university’s teaching, research, and service mission. The library staff are committed to providing the university with outstanding library resources, services, and programs. Maag offers flexible and well-equipped environments for library users’ research and learning needs.
