McDonough Museum to open two new exhibits that celebrate student work
April 10, 2024
The McDonough Museum of Art will present two new exhibitions to the public beginning Friday, April 19 through Saturday, May 4.
The “Spring 2024 Graduating B.F.A. Exhibition” will feature the art and design work of students graduating from the Department of Art this semester. Students in this department work closely with nationally and internationally known faculty engaged in a broad range of art and design practices. The exhibit serves as an opportunity for students to share the original and innovative discoveries they have made during their artistic journeys in the Department of Art.
Participants in this exhibit include Michael Flood, Hannah Gordon, Hope Hefright, Sofia Lanzo, George Mahramas Jr., Katie Masucci, Lanie McLaughlin, Kyla Nichol, Alaina Peccon, Avery Sandy, Bayona Sloan, Bo Gyeong (Verena) Son, Kayla Sprumont, and Jordan Townsend.
The “Art Education Alumni Invitational Exhibition” honors almost 90 years of art education at YSU. The exhibit will highlight a small selection of talented Department of Art alumni from throughout the region who currently work as art educators. These teachers work diligently to provide their students with a wide range of artistic experiences, and this exhibit is a chance to celebrate all they do to inspire future artists and art appreciators. It is also a way to thank these individuals and those who came before them for their commitment to bringing art to the Youngstown community.
A reception for both exhibitions will be held Friday, April 19 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the museum. Entry to the exhibits and reception is free and open to the public. The museum is open from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM Tuesday through Saturday.
