Record producer Ian Nagoski to join Beecher Art & Technology Lecture Series
March 22, 2024
The Beecher Art & Technology Lecture Series will welcome music researcher and record producer Ian Nagoski for a presentation Wednesday, March 27 at 5:30 PM in the McDonough Museum of Art lecture hall (room 3000).
For over a decade, Nagoski has produced dozens of reissues of early 20th century recordings in languages other than English for music labels such as Dust-to-Digital, Tompkins Square, his own label Canary Records, and numerous others. A fragment of his work is also installed on the MoonkArk, the first object to permanently be installed on the moon in 2020.
Nagoski’s lecture will focus on non-English language recordings from the 1920s to the 1950s, with connections to southern Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and western Pennsylvania.
