Four New Exhibits

Spring exhibits open at McDonough Museum of Art

The McDonough Museum of Art has announced that four new artists will be featured in exhibits opening at the museum beginning Friday, February 26, 2021, and running through Friday, April 2. Artists to be featured include Zac Benson, Max Markwald, Amy Theiss Geise, and new Emerging Visual Artist James Shawn Crum.

McDonough to celebrate Black History Month with two events

The McDonough Museum of Art will celebrate Black History Month with two events held throughout February. The museum will first offer free screenings of author Toni Morrison’s film “The Foreigner’s Home” each Wednesday throughout the month. The museum will also offer online exhibitions on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter that have been curated in conjunction with Black History Month. Artists to be featured include sculptor El Anatsui, installation artist Abigail DeVille, and painter Jack Whitten.

B.F.A. and M.F.A. exhibits to open at McDonough Museum of Art

The work of a dozen graduating Bachelor of Fine Arts students, as well as an exhibit from a Master of Fine Arts student, will be featured in new exhibits at the McDonough Museum of Art beginning Friday, November 20, 2020 and running through Saturday, December 12.

Faculty art show opens at McDonough Museum of Art

The McDonough Museum of Art will present the work of 17 Department of Art faculty members in a new exhibit titled “Enigmatic Reflections” that will be open to the public beginning Friday, August 28, 2020 through Saturday, October 24.

New McDonough Museum exhibit celebrates #BlackArtistsMatter

The McDonough Museum of Art is celebrating the artwork of historical and contemporary black visual artists in a new virtual exhibit titled “#BlackArtistsMatter.” All works in the exhibition can currently be found on the McDonough Museum’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages, and will be archived on the McDonough’s website.

Professor of art named new director of McDonough Museum of Art

Professor of art Claudia Berlinski, who has been a faculty member in the Department of Art for over 20 years, has been appointed as the new director of the John J. McDonough Museum of Art. Berlinski, who holds a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from The Ohio State University, most recently served as museum coordinator.

Dana School of Music celebrates Juneteenth in song

In celebration of Juneteenth, YSU’s Dana School of Music released a video performance of Queen Latifah’s “I Know Where I’ve Been” Friday, June 19, 2020. The performance features adjunct professor of voice Jaron LeGrair alongside the Voices of YSU ensemble.

Interactive artist Ken Rinaldo to exhibit at McDonough Museum

The McDonough Museum of Art will display the work of interactive artist Ken Rinaldo in a new exhibit titled “Scatter Surge” beginning Friday, January 24 through Saturday, March 7, 2020. Rinaldo will also present an artist lecture Monday, February 3 at 5:10 PM at the museum.
