Transfer admissions

We’re excited you’re considering the Dana School of Music for your musical studies!

Transfer from another institution

Step 1: Apply to the YSU

Whether you’re applying as an undergraduate or graduate student, you must be admitted to YSU before auditioning for acceptance into Dana. There are different admission processes for transfer applicants who are new to campus and for former YSU students who wish to return. The YSU Office of Admissions provides detailed information.

If you have questions about the YSU application process for transfer students, undergraduate applicants should contact the YSU Office of Admissions, and graduate applicants should contact the YSU Graduate College.

Studio placement is based on the incoming student’s audition and the space available in the faculty member’s studio. After students are admitted to the Dana School of Music, they may request a specific applied teacher by reaching out to the area coordinator or their academic advisor.

Spring admission is limited and is dependent upon space availability in individual departments. For optimal merit-based financial aid consideration, fall admission is encouraged. If interested or if applicable, please contact the Cliffe College Coordinator of Admissions + Recruitment.
