YSU’s University Theatre is kicking off its 2020-21 season with a virtual production of Tennessee Williams’ classic play, “The Glass Menagerie,” September 25 – 27 and October 2 – 4. The show will follow a family of three as they struggle to keep up with the changing world around them.
Tennessee Williams’ classic play “The Glass Menagerie,” a holiday cabaret, and the 10th annual Ten-Minute Play performances are among the highlights of the YSU University Theatre’s fall 2020 event schedule, which will begin Friday, September 25.
The McDonough Museum of Art will present the work of 17 Department of Art faculty members in a new exhibit titled “Enigmatic Reflections” that will be open to the public beginning Friday, August 28, 2020 through Saturday, October 24.
The McDonough Museum of Art is celebrating the artwork of historical and contemporary black visual artists in a new virtual exhibit titled “#BlackArtistsMatter.” All works in the exhibition can currently be found on the McDonough Museum’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages, and will be archived on the McDonough’s website.
Professor of art Claudia Berlinski, who has been a faculty member in the Department of Art for over 20 years, has been appointed as the new director of the John J. McDonough Museum of Art. Berlinski, who holds a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from The Ohio State University, most recently served as museum coordinator.
In celebration of Juneteenth, YSU’s Dana School of Music released a video performance of Queen Latifah’s “I Know Where I’ve Been” Friday, June 19, 2020. The performance features adjunct professor of voice Jaron LeGrair alongside the Voices of YSU ensemble.
The YSU Dana School of Music Wind Ensemble, directed by professor of music Stephen Gage, will host a year-end virtual concert Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 7:30 PM. The concert will include the premiere of the ensemble’s virtual performance of “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
The McDonough Museum of Art will celebrate the work of 21 graduating Department of Art students in a new virtual exhibition catalogue that will be available to view beginning May 6, 2020.
In an effort to encourage the creation of art during the COVID-19 lockdown, the McDonough Museum of Art has created the #museumchallenge, which asks for individuals to photographically recreate a work of art using only household items.
YSU’s Cliffe College of Creative Arts is launching a new virtual arts series called C3: Cliffe Creative Connections that will feature a variety of performances and lectures by Cliffe College students and faculty. The series will be hosted on YSU’s YouTube channel.
