Brass quintet plays Heinz Hall

A student brass quintet featuring Maxwell Franko and Darren Thompson (trumpets), Brendan Gage (horn), Dominic Gentile (trombone), and Alyssa Kordecki (tuba) performed a recital at historic Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh.

Utilizing his skills

Jalen Bosker is a graphic designer at Grove Bags, a cannabis packaging company. In response to his new position, Jalen said, “I absolutely love my job, and I couldn’t have found a better position to utilize all of the skills that I obtained at Youngstown State University.”

Award-winning designs

Taylor Valerio was recognized for two significant design-related accomplishments at the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Pittsburgh American Advertising Awards.

Professor James Umble

James Umble, Professor of Saxophone, has been selected as a featured guest clinician at the 42nd International Saxophone Symposium in January at the George Mason University Center for the Performing Arts in Fairfax, Va.

NATS winner

Junior vocalist Rachel Jones (student of Dr. Misook Yun) took second place at the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing auditions in Toledo.

Savannah Bell was a paid extra on the upcoming NETFLIX series, I Am Not Okay With This. The series will air in 2020.
