Grammy Award-winning classical tenor to conclude Pipino season

Grammy Award-winning classical tenor Karim Sulayman will perform the final concert of the 2021-22 Pipino Performing Arts season alongside pianist Yi-heng Yang Saturday, March 16, 2022 at 7:30 PM. The duo’s most recent recording debuted at number one on the Billboard Traditional Classical Chart and was included on The New York Times’ list of best classical music of 2020.

Department of Art welcomes Jacob Hashimoto for virtual lecture

The YSU Department of Art will welcome Jacob Hashimoto for a virtual guest lecture Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 4:00 PM. Hashimoto’s modular work, which has been featured in museum exhibitions across the globe, references video games, virtual environments, and cosmology.

Grayson Cox to guest lecture for Beecher Art & Technology Lecture Series

The YSU Department of Art’s Beecher Art & Technology Lecture Series will welcome Grayson Cox for a virtual guest lecture Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Cox is a New York-based artist and educator whose work involves printmaking, philosophy, and furniture-like sculpture.

University Theatre to present concert version of “The Music Man”

YSU’s University Theatre will present a concert version of the Tony Award-winning musical comedy “The Music Man” February 25 – 27, 2022 in the YSU Ford Theater, located in YSU’s Bliss Hall. The musical follows traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons locals into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he promises to organize but has no idea how to teach.

Pipino Performing Arts Series to welcome Cuarteto Latinoamericano

The Donald P. Pipino Performing Arts Series will welcome Cuarteto Latinoamericano, one of the world's most renowned Latin American classical music ensembles, to campus for a performance Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Ford Family Recital Hall in the DeYor Performing Arts Center in downtown Youngstown, Ohio. The event is co-sponsored by 88.5 WYSU-FM.

Dana School of Music alumnus picked to lead Raiders House Band

David Perrico (B.M., ’02), a Youngstown native and a graduate from YSU’s Dana School of Music, has been selected as the new front man for the Raiders House Band. As part of the group, Perrico will play in front of 65,000 fans in the Raiders’ new state-of-the-art building Allegiant Stadium.

The YSU Cliffe College of Creative Arts will present “An Evening with Austin Pendleton” Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 7:00 PM in the YSU Ford Theater, located in YSU’s Bliss Hall. Proceeds earned during the event will benefit Trumbull New  Theatre.

The YSU Department of Art will welcome artist Elana Herzog for a free virtual lecture Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 12:00 PM. For the last two decades Herzog has been the subject of museum surveys and solo exhibitions across the United States and Europe.

Judith Rae Solomon Gallery to highlight alumnus for Black History Month

The Judith Rae Solomon Gallery will highlight the work of photographer and YSU alumnus James Rogers Jr. (B.A., ’72) in an exhibition beginning Monday, January 31, 2022. The free public exhibit, titled "This, That, and the Other (The Way I See It)," is part of YSU’s Black History Month activities.

Jazz Ensemble to perform at Ohio Music Education Association concert

The YSU Jazz Ensemble will perform as the guest group at the Ohio Music Education Association District 5 Honors Jazz Ensembles concert Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Ford Family Recital Hall of the DeYor Performing Arts Center in downtown Youngstown, Ohio. The ensemble will perform music arranged by YSU alumnus Mike Kamuf (B.M., B.M.E., ’91).
