YSU Jazz Ensemble concert to feature alumnus Harold Danko

YSU’s Dana School of Music will hold a concert by the YSU Jazz Ensemble and the Contemporary Ensemble Monday, April 11, 2022 at 7:30 PM in Kilcawley Center’s Chestnut Room, located on YSU’s campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Jazz Ensemble, directed by professor of music Kent Engelhardt, will feature four pieces by graduate student guitarist and composer Chandler Carpenter and two pieces by alumnus Harold Danko in preparation for his upcoming residency at YSU. Danko will perform with the ensemble on his two pieces, and the program will feature vocals by Noah Landry and Haley Tura.
Carpenter, from Brunswick, Ohio, is a graduate assistant in the Jazz Area at the Dana School of Music. He holds a Bachelor of Music in jazz performance from the University of Akron, where he studied with Jack Schantz, Dean Newton, and YSU alumnus Chris Coles. Carpenter currently studies with professors of music Francois Fowler and Dave Morgan as he pursues a Master of Music in jazz studies.
The Contemporary Ensemble, directed by John Anthony, will perform music by Led Zeppelin, Guns ‘N’ Roses, and Kelly Clarkson, with vocals by Belita Rubante.
