New exhibit to feature student mural concept posters
April 7, 2021
Mural posters created by students enrolled in professor of art Dragana Crnjak’s Mural and Site-Specific Painting course will be featured in a new exhibit in Bliss Hall’s Judith Rae Solomon Gallery April 11 – 22, 2022.
The exhibit includes design ideas for mural projects by the following Department of Art students: Gina Cooper, Lindsay DeLullo, Brian Hill, Rachel Hritz, Naihomy Lebron, Jayme McKay, Matthew Miller, Mia Mondora, Patrick Savage, McKenna Simms, Verena Bo Gyeong Son, Kira Walker, Holly Yarab, Alexandra Chrismar, Tina Kalenits, Mya Kasten, Morgan Lay, Lauren Linger, Chloe Miklos, Elaine Ngo, Rose Sulerach Rivera, and Hannah Roberts.
“The main objective of the exhibition is to share the exciting range of students' ideas for public art that can play a crucial role in visually transforming and enriching the city of Youngstown,” Crnjak said.
Crnjak and her students completed a memorial mural along Andrews Avenue in Youngstown in November 2021. Crnjak cited the collaboration between Lit Youngstown, downtown businesses, and the Raymond John Wean Foundation for supporting the successful mural, which transformed the neglected wall space along Andrews Avenue into a dynamic visual corridor.
The gallery is open 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
