Wind Band Invitational

Each year, the Youngstown State University Band Program proudly hosts a High School Wind Band Invitational, welcoming outstanding ensembles from across the region. This immersive experience allows students and directors to visit our campus, participate in masterclasses with our world-class studio faculty, and refine their musicianship under the guidance of a distinguished guest clinician. Past clinicians have included Alex Kaminsky (Director of Bands, VanderCook College of Music), Theodore Shistle (Director of Bands, Jacksonville University), and Benjamin Rochford (Associate Director of Bands, Ithaca College).

The event culminates in a performance at the historic Stambaugh Auditorium, renowned for its exceptional acoustics. Held in mid-February, this invitational is designed to support ensembles as they prepare for music performance assessments and concert festivals, providing invaluable insight and inspiration ahead of their adjudicated performances.
