Painting

Immerse yourself in the vibrant field of painting

YSU’s Painting area is part of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Studio Art, Interdisciplinary Studio Arts degree. The area offers a balanced curriculum that recognizes and addresses both the technical and conceptual aspects of painting. You’ll be encouraged to identify and strengthen your personal sensibilities and be challenged to explore a wide range of painting methodologies, both creatively and critically, in a dynamic and supportive environment. Exposure to a wide range of ideas and processes in relation to historical, traditional, and contemporary art practices encourages experimentation and personal discovery.

You’ll be immersed in the vibrant field of painting through demonstrations, student-centered individual and group discussions, and field trips. Visiting artist lectures and individual studio visits by artists with diverse backgrounds provide painting students with a wide range of theoretical viewpoints and stylistic approaches.
