Our Department of Art faculty are working artists and scholars who are at the top of their field. Their research and creative endeavors are broadly diverse and transdisciplinary in nature. They focus on collaborations and ways in which to challenge our faculty challenge and redefine the visual arts' impact on education, our communities, and the art industry.

Commercial Metal Forming Project

Professor of art Dragana Crnjak completed a large-scale commissioned project for Commercial Metal Forming, one of the largest tank-head manufacturers in the country. The 108” x 48” painting depicts the manufacturing process of transforming a flat steel sheet into a volumetric tank head.

“Lightning Talk: Pittsburgh”

Professor of art Dana Sperry presented his talk “Lightning Talk: Pittsburgh” at the Applied Geography Conference held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Sperry focused his talk on three artistic projects located in Pittsburgh, including his own audio walk thewhyhere.com

Illustration and Design Conference Presentation

Professor of art Michelle Nelson presented her paper “Weaving Illustration Throughout a Design Curriculum” at the South Eastern College Arts Conference held in Richmond, Virginia. This nonprofit organization fosters the study and practice of the visual arts and provides support for art professionals in higher education.

Glasgow Print Studio Gallery Exhibition

Professor of art Joseph D’Uva was selected to exhibit work in the "Love of Print: International" exhibition at the Glasgow Print Studio Gallery in Glasgow, Scotland. D’Uva was also selected for the Mid American Print Council Members Juried Exhibition at Kent State University. His work was included in an exhibit titled “Open-Ended CTA: A Collaboration.”
