Art making and pedagogy is a dynamic process

Art Education students are first and foremost artists who want to teach. They are dedicated to becoming lifelong learners, artists, teachers, and researchers. They serve as leaders and advocates for the arts in schools, museums and community spaces, arts organizations, government and non-profit institutions, and other settings.

At YSU, our program features intimate class sizes and hands-on field experiences that foster professional teaching skills and creative and intellectual growth. Students work with art education and studio faculty who have a diverse set of creative interests, ranging from the use of digital technology in the classroom and international studies to art curriculum and instruction and multicultural art education.
