Sebastian began his design journey in Colombia, earning a Bachelor's in Graphic Design from Colegiatura Colombiana of Design. He spent the following years in the fashion industry, learning about textile printmaking and working alongside a fashion design team, before pursuing a Master's degree at Kent State University in Ohio. While studying, he shifted his focus to editorial design, working with various clients on projects that combined illustration, digital art, and typography to create impactful designs.
After graduating, Sebastian moved to New York, where he began working in UI/UX design at a small start-up. It was there he discovered his passion for user experience, a field he truly enjoys. His teaching reflects his real-world experience, as he encourages students to create work that mirrors professional industry expectations. In his ongoing UI/UX role in New York, he collaborates with teams to solve design problems, staying updated on the latest industry trends, which enhances both his teaching and professional work.
In the classroom, Sebastian shares insights from his diverse career, providing students with knowledge and skills to tackle real-world design challenges. He is also passionate about technology and constantly seeks to learn about new software and technologies, like artificial intelligence, 3D printing and AR/VR.
