About

Stephanie Carter Dennis holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the Youngstown State University Dana School of Music and a Master of Music in Woodwind Performance from the University of Akron. She is principal flute of the Snowbelt Symphony and Second Flute/Piccolo chair of the Warren Philharmonic. She is also an active freelance musician, often playing in the flute sections of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, the Legacy Scoring Orchestra, the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, and the W.D. Packard Band. Dennis has performed as guest artist on various occasions, including her recent performance as the concerto soloist for the Aurora School of Music Christmas Gala 2023, featured winner of the Dana School of Music Concerto Competition, guest artist with the W.D. Packard Band, and soloist with the Mercer Community Band. She recently had the privilege of being selected to play piccolo with the Youngstown-based orchestra that recorded “America the Beautiful” for Super Bowl LII.

In addition to her performance experience, Dennis has been teaching flute since 2007. She has actively maintained a flourishing flute studio, in addition to conducting the Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra Flute Choir from 2010-2014, and coaching the University of Akron Flute Choir during her graduate teaching assistantship. She has taught junior high and high school masterclasses at the Dana School of Music Flute Festival and Ohio Band Director’s Conference, in addition to her active involvement in local high school chamber ensemble coaching and conducting. Dennis has been selected to play in numerous masterclasses with world-renowned teachers, and she was selected to play in the Renova Chamber Music Festival and the MasterWorks Orchestral Festival. Dennis was a Youngstown State University Scholar and a full scholarship graduate teaching assistant at the University of Akron. She currently resides with her husband in Cortland, Ohio.
