Christine Carucci, Ph.D., holds a varied career as a music educator and performer. As a bassoonist, she has performed with regional orchestras and chamber groups across the globe, has performed at international festivals and conferences, and has recorded with Naxos and Centaur records. She has nearly 20 years experience teaching in higher education, including as Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of Music Education at Eastern Kentucky University, where she taught for 11 years. In addition, she has held positions at the University of Rhode Island, the University of Minnesota at Morris, and St. Cloud State University. She currently serves an Artist Faculty of bassoon at Youngstown State University.
As a music researcher and writer, Dr. Carucci’s work has been published in the International Journal of Community Music,the Journal of the Interdisciplinary Society for Music and Medicine,the Kentucky Journal of Excellence in Teaching and Learning,and the School Band and Orchestramagazine. She is an advocate for community music across the lifespan, and was the founder and former director of the Lexington (KY) New Horizons Band. She has held positions teaching K-12 music in New York, Massachusetts, and California, and is currently an Orchestra Director in the Boardman Local School District. Dr. Carucci holds music degrees from the Eastman School of Music (B.M.), the University of Southern California (M.M.), and the University of Kentucky (Ph.D.).
