About
Dr. Smith received a B.A. from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, in 1989, and an M.A. and Ph.D. (2000) from Rutgers University. She has been a member of the YSU Department of Art faculty since 1998.
Dr. Smith has received many fellowships and honors,, including a Fulbright fellowship (1995), a Samuel H. Kress Foundation fellowship at the Biblioteca Hertziana in Rome, Italy (1995-1998), and a Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst Research Grant from the German government (1995).
Dr. Smith’s presentations and publications deal with funerary art and ritual commemoration in the Roman world, and Roman glass.
