Painting

Immerse yourself in the vibrant field of painting

YSU’s Painting area is part of the B.F.A. in Studio Art – Interdisciplinary Studio Art degree. (link to the ISA page under “Academics”) The area offers a balanced curriculum that recognized and addresses both the technical and conceptual aspects of painting. You’ll be encouraged to identify and strengthen your personal sensibilities and challenged to explore wide range of painting methodologies - creatively and critically in a dynamic and supportive environment. Exposure to a wide range of ideas and processes in relation to historical, traditional, and contemporary art practices encourages experimentation and personal discovery.

You’ll be immersed in the vibrant field of painting through demonstrations, studentcentered individual and group discussions, and field trips. Visiting artist lectures and individual studio visits by artists with diverse backgrounds provide painting students with a wide range of theoretical viewpoints and stylistic approaches.
