“Blue Is More Than a Color”

Professor of music Dave Morgan released a new album, “Blue Is More Than a Color.” The recording features seven tracks performed by 30 musicians, including several YSU faculty, alumni, and current students.

“It Had to Be You”

Associate professor of theatre Katherine Garlick designed and built costumes for Pittsburgh’s South Park Theatre’s production of “It Had to Be You.” Garlick also presented a clinic on costume rendering techniques at the annual United States Institute for Theatre Technology Conference.

Super Bowl LIII

Professor of music Stephen Gage and over two dozen YSU alumni, faculty, staff, and students recorded the musical orchestration for the singing of “American the Beautiful” by Chloe and Halle during the Super Bowl LIII pregame ceremony.

Akron Art Museum Exhibition

Professor of art Dragana Crnjak was selected as one of three northeast Ohio artists whose work will be featured in a contemporary exhibition at the Akron Art Museum titled “Frameworks.” Crnjak created two paintings and a wall drawing for the exhibit.

National Art Education Association Conference Presentation

Professor of art Michelle Nelson and two other Department of Art faculty members gave a presentation titled “Transforming Teaching Toward Transforming Community” at the 2018 National Art Education Association Conference in Seattle. The presentation discussed the work the group completed with a grant awarded by the Puffin Foundation.

2018 OMEA Conference Presentation

Associate professor of music Daniel Keown co-presented a lecture at the 2018 Ohio Music Education Association’s Professional Development Conference. He also gave two presentations, titled “Discovering the Lost Ark of Possibilities: Bringing Visibility to the Invisible Art Form of Film Music in Your Music Classroom” and “Listen – Do You Hear That? The Science and Art of Creating Soundscapes.”

Concerts at OMEA Conference

Professors of music Stephen Gage and Glenn Schaft led the YSU Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble, respectively, in performances at the 2018 Ohio Music Education Association’s Professional Development Conference. Schaft also performed a solo work composed by professor of music Dave Morgan as part of the Wind Ensemble performance.
