The Donald P. Pipino Performing Arts Series at Youngstown State University presents the Diderot String Quartet Sunday, January 29, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church on Oak Hill Avenue in Youngstown. The Diderot String Quartet performance is co-sponsored by 88.5 WYSUFM.

Quartet members include cellist Paul Dwyer, violist Kyle Miller, violinist Johanna Novom, and baroque violinist Adriane Post. After meeting at the Oberlin Conservatory and The Juilliard School, the four formed their quartet in 2012, naming themselves after the eighteenth-century French philosopher and Boccherini enthusiast Denis Diderot.

The quartet has served as Quartet-in-Residence at the Washington Cathedral for five seasons and has served as guest faculty for Oberlin’s Baroque Performance Institute. The quartet also commissioned and premiered “Small Infinities,” a new work for gut strings from composer Lembit Beecher. Finally, the quartet has collaborated with numerous internationally-acclaimed artists, including Jesse Blumberg, Dashon Burton, and David Breitman.

The Pipino Performing Art Series event is free and open to the public.
