YSU University Theatre presents The Last Five Years

YSU University Theatre returns to Spotlight Theater with “The Last Five Years,” opening February 16, 2023 at 7:30 PM in Bliss Hall, located on YSU’s campus.

Written by Jason Robert Brown, this Drama Desk awardwinner has been translated into multiple languages and was named one of TIME Magazine's ten best shows of 2001. A testament to the show's longevity and spurred by the show's regional popularity, “The Last Five Years” also enjoyed an Off-Broadway revival at Second Stage in 2013.

An emotionally-powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the course of five years, the show's unconventional structure consists of Cathy telling her story in reverse, while Jamie tells his story chronologically; the two characters only meet once, at their wedding in the middle of the show.

Cast members include John Bearss, Rootstown, OH; Lacey Farina, Schenectady, NY; Lauren Ladd, Hubbard, OH; and Mitchell Sharp, Beloit, OH.

The show's run is scheduled for February 16 – 19 in Bliss Hall's Spotlight Theater, located on YSU’s campus. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 PM, while the Sunday matinee performances begins at 2:00 PM. All seats are general admission.
