Tennessee Williams’ classic play “The Glass Menagerie,” a holiday cabaret, and the 10th annual Ten-Minute Play performances are among the highlights of the YSU University Theatre’s fall event schedule.

The performances, which run from September through early December, will be presented in virtual formats. The season will begin with the production of “The Glass Menagerie,” Tennessee Williams’ classic play that follows a family of three as they navigate the changing world around them. The show will be broadcast virtually September 25 and October 2 at 7:30 PM, and September 26 – 27 and October 3 – 4 at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM.

The following month, University Theatre will present their production of William Finn’s “Elegies: A Song Cycle,” which follows the emotional aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s. The performances will be streamed online at 7:30 PM November 13 and 20, and at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM November 14 – 15 and 21 – 22.

Tickets for both shows will be available starting September 1 and are $10 for a single viewer, $25 for group viewing, and free for YSU students and employees.

University Theatre will kick off December with a holiday cabaret titled “Chillin’ in a Winter Wonderland: An Evening of Seasonal Jazz and Pop Tunes.” This event will showcase students in the Musical Theatre program and be streamed on YouTube Friday, December 4 at 7:00 PM.

That same weekend, University Theatre will host the 10th annual Ten-Minute Plays event, also on YouTube. The event welcomes student directors and actors to showcase their talents in workshop productions. The event will be streamed Sunday, December 6 at 7:30 PM.

Both the “Winter Wonderland” and Ten-Minute Play events are free and open to the public.
