May 19, 2023
The McDonough Museum of Art has announced the arrival of their summer 2023 exhibition “Flow – 2023 Alumni Exhibition” that will open to the public Saturday, June 3 and run through Friday, July 14.
This exhibition honors YSU Department of Art graduates and celebrates over 70 years of arts education at Cliffe College of Creative Arts. A variety of media by YSU alumni from across the country will be available for viewing. Participating alumni include professional artists, art educators, and representatives from a broad range of artistic fields.
Artist and educator William Mullane will jury the exhibition. He currently serves as gallery director and board president for the Trumbull Art Gallery and the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, Mullane is also completing his 44th year as a public school teacher and administrator.
Over 100 pieces were submitted by alumni for consideration in the gallery, with 80 pieces by 69 artists being accepted. Among these pieces are Kate Battle’s “Heart on my Sleeve,” an acrylic self-portrait; Barbara Buchman’s “Ongoing & Forthcoming,” made of recycled watercolor and gouache artwork scraps; and Chris Kamykowski’s “Low-res Vases,” a ceramic display.
An opening reception for the exhibition will be held Saturday, June 3 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the museum. It will feature opening remarks at 5:30 PM by Dr. Phyllis Paul, dean of Cliffe College of Creative Arts, and an awards presentation by McDonough Museum of Art director Claudia Berlinski.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
