2024-25 Department of Art Lecture Series to begin with guest artist Katie Butler
October 20, 2024
The Department of Art Lecture Series will welcome guest artist Katie Butler as the first lecturer of its 2024-25 season Thursday, October 24, in the McDonough Museum of Art.
From Southwestern Ontario, Butler finds inspiration for her work through investigating her family heritage. Originally a creator of classical portraiture, her pieces now focus on expressive, personal scenes, urging her audiences to explore the range of emotions she aims to portray in her work. Butler is currently working on creating pieces that explore the range of emotions that arise from being in an unhealthy relationship.
Butler will present her studio work from 1:00 – 2:45 PM in the McDonough Museum, with a lecture to follow at 3:30 PM in the museum’s lecture hall (room 3000).
Entry to both events is free and open to the public.
