Flute student to perform in final recital of McDonough series
Kayla Gilmore, a junior-level flutist in the Dana School of Music, will perform in a virtual recital for the final McDonough Museum of Art Honors Recital Series event Saturday, December 12, at 7:00 PM. She will be accompanied by pianist Diane Yazvac.
The series is a collaboration between the McDonough Museum of Art and the Dana School of Music. Six students were selected as winners in the competition for this school year, with each getting to perform in their own recital throughout the semester.
Gilmore is the principal flute in the YSU Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra, and has played in the Flute Ensemble, the Pep Band, the Marching Band, and the Whirlwinds Woodwind Quintet. She is studying flute performance.
Gilmore has been a winner of the American Protégé Woodwinds and Brass Competition, the Tuesday Musical Club Scholarship, the Carol E. Austin Performing Arts award, the Fitzjohn Memorial Scholarship, the Masterworks Festival Honors Recital Competition, and the Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra Concerto Competition.
The Honors Recital Series can be watched on the McDonough Museum of Art’s and Cliffe College’s YouTube channels.
