More than 150 postcard-sized pieces of art by local high school students will be on display at the Judith Rae Solomon Gallery through Friday, November 15 as part of the third annual High School Mail Art Show.

Mail art is an artistic movement focused on sending small-scale works through the postal service. It was developed in the 1950s as an alternative way for artists to network and share their work beyond the traditional art market.

High school juniors and seniors from school districts in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania were invited to create an image on thick paper the size of a postcard that could be sent through the mail. The event received over 150 postcards created using a variety of media to display numerous themes.

An opening reception and awards ceremony for the exhibit will be held in the gallery Monday, November 4 at 5:30 PM. Entry to the exhibit is free and open to the public. The gallery is open from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
