Sculptor Sidney Mullis to join Department of Art Lecture Series
February 11, 2025
The Department of Art Lecture Series will welcome sculptor Sidney Mullis to present on her work Thursday, February 20, at 5:30 PM at the McDonough Museum of Art.
Mullis’ current exhibit, “Caught Skies and Pillowed Pines,” will be on display at the McDonough through Friday, February 28. It is based around a make-believe forest in which childhood selves retreat to in adulthood, investigating whether it is possible to bring them back. Her other work has focused on puberty, the intimacy of forgetting, and the performance of gender.
Mullis’ work has been exhibited across the world, including in Berlin, Tokyo, England, Croatia, and the Netherlands. She has also been an artist-in-residence at The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, the Wassaic Project, Women’s Studio Workshop, and numerous other galleries. She currently works as a tutor for children ages five through eight with learning disabilities.
Entry to this event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Wick Avenue Deck (M30) for a $5 fee payable in cash only. The McDonough Museum of Art is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
