Pipino Performing Arts Series to welcome Rhythm Method String Quartet

October 25, 2019

The Donald P. Pipino Performing Arts Series will welcome the Rhythm Method String Quartet, an all-female group with a feminist flare, for a performance Friday, November 8 at 7:30 PM in The Butler Institute of American Art.

The quartet is composed of violinists Leah Asher and Marina Kifferstein, violist Carrie Frey, and celloist Meaghan Burke. Together they have performed internationally in France, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as at national venues such as Joe’s Pub, The Stone, the Met Museum, the Noguchi Museum, and Roulette. The group has also been featured at the String Orchestra of Brooklyn’s String Theories Festival, the MATA Festival, Music Mondays, and the Austrian Cultural Forum’s Moving Sounds Festival.

This season the quartet will continue its Hidden Mothers Project, an initiative that highlights works by historical women composers. It will also launch the third installment of Broad Statements, a celebration of creative music-making by women in a wide array of artistic styles. The group’s debut album will be released in the coming months and will feature new works by all three members.

The concert is co-sponsored by 88.5 WYSU-FM. Tickets are $22 for adults, $17 for senior citizens and YSU faculty and staff, $5 for children under the age of 18, and free for YSU students with a valid ID. Tickets can be purchased by calling 330-941-2307 or by visiting www.ysu.tix.com.

The Pipino Performing Arts Series will continue its season in the spring as it welcomes the American Brass Quintet for a performance January 24. In the following months, the series will also present the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Good Humor Radio Hour, and Ekmeles.
