McDonough Museum named as recipient of Ohio Arts Council Sustainability Grant
August 1, 2024
The McDonough Museum of Art and the Cliffe College of Creative Arts have been named as recipients of a Sustainability Grant in the amount of $12,200 from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) Board.
The funding, part of over $22 million in arts grants approved by the OAC for fiscal year 2025, will be used to support McDonough and Cliffe College programs, including the Emerging Artist Series. This year, the OAC awarded 446 Sustainability Grants, totaling $17,167,288.
The Emerging Artist Series was established to create opportunities for new and emerging visual and performing artists, especially those with underrepresented voices and viewpoints. Additionally, the funding will be used in collaborative efforts between Cliffe College, the McDonough Museum, and the local Youngstown community to create new programs and bring unique artists to the university to showcase their work.
Created in 1965, the OAC is a state agency whose mission is to fund and support art experiences in order to strengthen local communities culturally, educationally, and economically. The organization provides financial assistance to artists and art organizations to support their endeavors and to help enhance the growth of the arts.
