Department of Art to host Art Day for prospective students
October 10, 2025
YSU’s Department of Art invites prospective students considering a creative career path to attend Art Day Saturday, October 25, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at YSU’s Bliss Hall.
Art Day will showcase the Department of Art’s diverse offerings across multiple art disciplines, including ceramics, digital media, drawing, graphic and interactive design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.
The day will begin with a welcome session followed by an information session that will highlight YSU’s art degree programs, including the B.F.A. in Studio Art, Interdisciplinary Arts, and the B.F.A. in Graphic Design. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in panel discussions with current students and faculty, engage in hands-on art-making activities, and learn about career opportunities in the visual arts.
"Art Day is designed to give prospective students a genuine feel for what it's like to be part of our creative community," Department of Art Chair and professor Joy Christiansen Erb said. "Whether students are interested in traditional studio practices or cutting-edge digital media, they'll discover the breadth of possibilities available at YSU."
The event will also feature a presentation outlining the next steps in the admissions process and financial aid opportunities for guardians, along with guided campus tours. This is an ideal opportunity for students to envision themselves as part of YSU's thriving arts community and for families to learn about making an education in the arts affordable, while asking questions directly to faculty, staff, and current students.
The registration deadline for Art Day is Wednesday, October 15, and can be completed at no charge here.
