Department of Art announces first-ever Summer Art Camp for high school students

April 7, 2026

YSU’s Department of Art will host its first-ever Summer Art Camp June 22 – 26 at YSU’s Bliss Hall.

Designed for students ages 13 to 18, the camp will run daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and provide participants with hands-on studio experience across a range of artistic media, including painting, printmaking, photography, and graphic design.

“[The] Summer Art Camp at YSUS is an exciting opportunity for young artists to immerse themselves in creative practice, explore new media, and experience what it’s like to learn in a college-level environment,” Department of Art Chair Joy Christiansen Erb said. “We are proud to provide a space where students can grow their skills, build confidence, and be inspired by both our faculty and their peers.”

Throughout the week, students will receive instruction and personalized feedback from college-level art faculty in a workshop-style format that encourages experimentation and creative growth. Participants will also have the opportunity to connect with peers who share similar interests and gain insight into what it means to study art at the collegiate level.

The camp will conclude with an exhibition of student work in a YSU gallery, giving participants a meaningful opportunity to present their accomplishments to family and peers.

The cost for the 2026 Summer Art Camp is $325 for the week, which includes lunch each day. Registration is required and must be completed by June 5. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
