Beecher Art and Technology Lecture Series to welcome illustrator Laura Garvin
March 5, 2026

The Beecher Art and Technology Lecture Series, hosted by YSU’s Department of Art, will welcome illustrator and designer Laura Garvin for a presentation Tuesday, March 10, at 5:30 PM at the McDonough Museum of Art.
Garvin, a graduate of the Department of Art with a B.F.A. in Graphic and Interactive Design, works as an in-house designer and freelance illustrator. She is also the illustrator and social media coordinator for the Pennsylvania: West region of The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and is a member of the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators.
Garvin finds inspiration for her works in concepts including color, books, museum, history, and growing up in the early 2000s. She hopes her creations both make grownups feel nostalgic and children feel like anything is possible.
Entry to this event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Wick Avenue Deck (M30) for a $5 fee payable in cash only.
