Artist Winnie Soon to present for Department of Art Lecture Series (DALS)

Artist and researcher Winnie Soon will present a virtual lecture as part of the Department of Art Lecture Series (DALS) Thursday, April 22 at 9:00 AM.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Soon is an associate professor in the Department of Digital Design and Information Studies at Aarhus University. They are also a visiting fellow at numerous academic institutions, including the Center for the Study of the Networked Image, London South Bank University, Goldsmiths, and the University of London.
Soon’s research and art intersects in the areas of software studies and computational cultures, investigating topics like queer code, digital censorship, minor technology, and software publishing to better understand both the potentials and implications that come with using technology.
Soon has given numerous keynotes and public talks and has been published internationally at museums, galleries, festivals, and libraries, including FutureEverything, the Pulse Art and Technology Festival, and the Harvard Museum. In 2018, they earned the Aarhus University Research Foundation PhD award.
