Work on Andrews Avenue Memory Mural continues

The Andrews Avenue Memory Mural project, under the direction of professor of art Dragana Crnjak, has nearly been completed thanks to the hard work of students enrolled in Crnjak’s Mural and Site-Specific Painting course.

The project formed from a partnership between Lit Youngstown and the YSU Department of Art and is funded by the Raymond J. Wean Foundation. The project is also supposed by Youngstown CityScape and the Andrews Avenue Business Group.

The final design will include a ribbon of memories submitted by current and former residents and visitors of downtown Youngstown and will be located along Andrews Avenue from Federal Street to East Rayen Avenue near campus.

Students participating in the project include Elaine Ngo, Boardman, Ohio; Hannah Roberts, Warren, Ohio; Holly Yarab, Boardman, Ohio; Lauren Linger, New Castle, Pennsylvania; Lexi Chismar, Boardman, Ohio; Morgan Lay, Brookfield, Ohio; Tina Kalenits, Cleveland, Ohio; Verena Bo Gyeong Son, South Korea; Mya Kasten, Canfield, Ohio; Rachel Hritz, Youngstown, Ohio; Chloe Miklos, Sharon, Pennsylvania; and Rose Sulerach Rivera, Long Island, New York.

Other groups and individuals supporting the project include the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, YSUscape, author Sean Posey, professor of geography Dawna Carney, and numerous volunteers.
