YSU’s Jazz Studies Area to present Jazz Combos Concert

The YSU Dana School of Music’s Jazz Studies Area will present a Jazz Combos Concert Thursday, February 27, at 7:30 PM at the YSU Spotlight Theater, located in Bliss Hall.
Under the direction of professors of music Kent Engelhardt and Glenn Schaft, the concert will feature two student ensembles performing classic jazz selections.
The Jazz Sextet, led by Engelhardt, will feature students Niko Kawalick (trumpet), Nick Komara (saxophone), Osa Omoregie (guitar), Carter Ulery (piano), Javin Shafer (bass), and Anthony DeMain (drums). The sextet will perform “Little Sunflower” by Freddie Hubbard, “Veird Blues” by Miles Davis, and “Pent Up House” by Sonny Rollins.
The Jazz Trio, led by Schaft, will feature students Aaron White (piano), Nick Steeves (bass), and Evan Stefancin (drums) bringing their unique interpretation of jazz standards to the stage.
Entry to this event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Wick Avenue Deck (M30) for a $5 fee payable in cash only.
