YSU president Jim Tressel to narrate two stories at Dana children’s concert
May 1, 2022
YSU president Jim Tressel is set to narrate Sergei Prokofiev’s "Peter and the Wolf" and Camille Saint-Saëns’ "Carnival of the Animals" at a children’s concert performed by the Dana Ensemble Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Stambaugh Auditorium.
Saint-Saëns' "Carnival of the Animals" introduces a zoo of creatures large and small, while Prokofiev's "Peter & The Wolf" tells the tale of a young boy's adventures with a bird, a cat, a duck, and the eponymous wolf.
“We are privileged to have a faculty ensemble of this amazing caliber at the Dana School of Music. The musical imagery of both 'Peter and the Wolf' and 'Carnival of the Animals' are quite vivid and fun for all ages. The opportunity to feature president Tressel as narrator is such an honor. If anyone has ever heard the president tell a story, you know this is not a performance to be missed. I hope you can join us,” Dana School of Music director Joseph Carucci said.
The Dana Ensemble is comprised of a flexible, modular roster of Dana School of Music faculty, often joined by regional guest artists, and performs live concerts multiple times each semester in the area’s iconic performances spaces.
