Dana School of Music alumna places in Meistersinger Competition

September 1, 2022

Marlina Karimi (M.M., ’22), a former student of professor of music Misook Yun, was awarded third place in the American Institute of Musical Studies’ (AIMS) Meistersinger Competition in Graz, Austria during the summer of 2022. She performed Rosalinda from the “Die Fledermaus” Act II finale

Karimi also served as a summer administrative assistant for AIMS.

Karimi received her Bachelor of Music on clarinet from Florida Gulf Coast University. She received her Master of Music from YSU in 2022 and is currently working towards a Performance Certificate at DePaul University.

AIMS was created to better prepare young artists for a professional career in music. The organization holds a six-week program, ending with the Meistersinger Competition, that provides extensive instruction in opera and lieder repertoire, with many opportunities for concerts and recitals. AIMS also serves as an introduction to European music for those coming to the program from other countries.
