Dana student earns Honorable Mention nod at International Trombone Association Competition

Jacob Norton, a junior Music Performance major at YSU’s Dana School of Music, was awarded Honorable Mention at the 2026 International Trombone Association Competition.
Norton submitted his audition for the Alto Trombone section of the competition with Dr. Da-Eun Choi as his accompanist, competing against musicians from around the world.
He credits Dana School of Music faculty members Andrew Mitchell and Michael Butler for guiding him through the audition process and for providing ongoing support, both in his development as a musician and in his personal growth.
Norton’s accomplishment is a strong testament to his musical talent, and the Dana School of Music is proud to have him represent the college at the international level.
