YSU’s Dana School of Music will host a Wind Band Invitational featuring the YSU Percussion Ensemble, YSU Wind Ensemble, and two Pennsylvania high school bands Thursday, February 20, at 7:30 PM at Stambaugh Auditorium.

The Brookville Area Senior High School and the Norwin High School Wind Ensemble, led by Kyle Grabigel and Tim Daniels, respectively, will join the YSU Percussion and Wind Ensembles to perform a variety of musical selections. Both high school ensembles will work with guest clinician Garrett Griffin, director of bands at Coastal Carolina University, to showcase their talents.

The YSU Percussion Ensemble, directed by professor of music Glenn Schaft, will open the evening with a performance of Charles Amirkhanian’s “Another Norther.” Following, the high school bands will perform selections by Matthew Putnam, Randall Standridge, Andrew Boysen, and Jan Van der Roost, among others. The YSU Wind Ensemble, directed by director of bands Michael S. Butler, will conclude the evening with “Prelude” by Dmitri Shostakovich, “A Movement for Rosa” by Mark Camphouse, and “A Crown of Thorns, A Soul of Fire” by Benjamin Barker.

Tickets for this event are $5 for adults and $4 for seniors (65+) and students. They can be purchased here. Free parking is available on-site.
