YSU Youth Orchestra to perform concert at Stambaugh Auditorium

The YSU Youth Orchestra, comprised of Youngstown-area middle and high school students, will perform their fall concert Monday, December 6, 2021 at 7:00 PM at the Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown.

Formerly the Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra, the group is now sponsored and supported by the YSU Cliffe College of Creative Arts and the YSU Dana School of Music. Open to students ages 13 – 18 by audition, the group is led by director Michael Butler and associate director Richard Smrek.

Thirty-one students in the middle school symphonette, directed by Michele Prokop, will perform songs such as “Ukrainian Bell,” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” Members of the 70-plus student youth orchestra will perform Gioachino Rossini’s “William Tell Overture,” Chris Pilsner’s “A Light in the Ocean,” and "Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World.”
