Cliffe College Performing Arts Series to open season with performance by Nobuntu
October 21, 2024
The Cliffe College Performing Arts Series (CPAS) will present Nobuntu, an all-female Zimbabwean a cappella ensemble, for the first performance of the series’ 2024-25 season.
Nobuntu has drawn international acclaim for its inventive performances that range from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Afro Jazz and Gospel. The ensemble’s concerts are performed with pure voices, augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano), and organic, authentic dance movements. The ensemble’s music reflects the beauty and power of Zimbabwean culture, offering a unique artistic experience.
The performance will be held Sunday, October 27, at the Ford Family Recital Hall, located within the DeYor Performing Arts Center in downtown Youngstown. Tickets for this event are available here and cost $30 for adults; $25 for seniors (65+) and YSU faculty and staff; $10 for children aged 13-18; and are free for children 12 and under and YSU students with a valid ID.
CPAS will present three more events throughout the duration of its season, including Serata Italiana: A Night of Italian Music and Cuisine, featuring Italian folk group Alla Boara; Harlem Quartet, a New York-based string quartet; and Imani Winds, a GRAMMY Award-winning wind quintet.
