If you have a passion for film, media, and storytelling—and aspire to create compelling visual narratives—Youngstown State University’s B.A. in Theatre Studies, Film/Video Track degree may be the ideal program for you!

This interdisciplinary degree combines hands-on experience in film, video, and theatre production with a strong liberal arts foundation, equipping you with both the creative skills and critical insight necessary to become an effective storyteller.

Whether your interests lie in directing, cinematography, editing, screenwriting, or media analysis, you'll benefit from close mentorship by faculty in small class and lab settings. Our students develop a versatile and marketable skill set through coursework in theatre, media communications, and English.

Our program will support you as you discover your artistic voice while preparing for a wide range of careers in film, television, digital media, and beyond.

Facilities

Whether you’re designing or building scenery, acting in front of an audience, producing costumes for American musicals or Greek tragedies, working on a student-directed project, designing or making costumes, rehearsing choreography, or studying, our facilities will augment your artistic and educational experiences. You’ll have access to two theaters, makeup and dressing rooms, design studios, scene and costume shops, and other spaces in which to perform and work.
