At University Theatre, you’ll be inspired to study all aspects of the theatrical arts. Our distinguished faculty will challenge you to grow as both an artist and individual, and we’ll prepare you to fulfill your unique goals. We offer undergraduate programs and minors and provide opportunities for students to enhance their studies with multiple professional experiences. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, we’ll prepare you for success in the theatre industries.

For those applying to the B.F.A. in Theatre (Acting), and B.F.A. in Musical Theatre, admission is a three-step process.

  • Step 1: Apply to YSU

  • Step 2: Complete the University Theatre Audition Form*

  • Step 3: Prepare for and complete your audition

Audition information

*Only students applying to the B.F.A. in Theatre (Acting), and B.F.A. in Musical Theatre programs are required to audition.

For students applying to the B.F.A. in Theatre Technical Design, and B.A. in Theatre Studies (Film/Video Track), no audition is required.

*If you are unable to attend one of the scheduled audition days, contact the Cliffe College Coordinator of Admissions and Recruitment atcliffecollege@ysu.eduor call330.941.2346for alternative audition arrangements. Admission is on a rolling basis. Auditions may still be scheduled after the listed final audition date. Auditions will be accepted after February 21, but those completed by February 21 will receive full consideration for a University Theatre Talent Scholarship.
