The Links, Incorporated

The Youngstown (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is committed to enriching and sustaining the culture and survival of persons of African ancestry in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. Founded in 1955, this chapter is one of the oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women in Mahoning and Trumbull County who are committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.

The McDonough Museum has collaborated with The Arts facet of The Links. The goal of this facet is to produce and support programs to enrich the quality of life of youth and communities through educational and engaging art experiences while transforming communities. The museum has had several workshops for students from the Youngstown Rayen Early College Middle School and seniors from the Youngstown chapter of The Links. Each spring since 2022 we hold an ekphrastic writing workshop using our gallery exhibitions as inspiration, as well as numerous visual arts making sessions. The McDonough has also displayed these students' year-long arts projects for the past two summers.
