Welcome to the Dana School of Music!

Congratulations on your acceptance to the Dana School of Music. We’re excited to welcome you to our School and the broader YSU community.

Your first steps as a YSU Penguin begin with First-Year Student Orientation, which will occur before the start of your first semester as a YSU student. Our academic advisors, faculty, staff, and students look forward to meeting you during your orientation activities.

First-Year Student Orientation

In order to register for classes, all incoming, degree- and diploma-seeking students are required to attend orientation.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about your degree, performance opportunities within Dana, university support programs, and other resources at Youngstown State University and the Dana School of Music. You’ll also have the chance to meet fellow students and familiarize yourself with YSU’s campus and the surrounding area, including picturesque Mill Creek Park and the historic Butler Institute of American Art.

International Student Orientation will be held virtually. Upon arrival to the YSU campus, all F-1 and J-1 international students will be required to complete immigration check-in. Learn more about YSU International Programs’ Orientation requirements.
