What is Image Processing?
Image processing is a method that performs some type of operation on an image, to be able to enhance the image or extract important information from the image.
What is Image Processing Used For?
Image processing is a powerful tool that is used every day and in multiple different fields. One common use of image processing is in any video/photo editing tool, like Photoshop. Government agencies use image processing for comparing fingerprints, facial recognition, and traffic cameras. Another field that image processing is having a huge impact on is the medical field. With image processing, machines are able to recognize things in X-Rays, MRI scans, and cellular microscopic images that humans might not be able to detect. Industrial companies are also using image processing to help recognize product defects. These examples are just some of the uses, but there are many more applications of image processing that are used in today's society.
